The Contrada's trial

Bruno Contrada is an ex-official for the Italian secret services who has been accused of having been corrupted by the Mafia. On December 24, 1992 he was arrested. Last year the trial began . The story has been in the headlines of the Italian news, dividing the country in two. This is the first time that such an important official of the Italian secret services has been accused of corruption with the Mafia. This story of the secret agent Bruno Contrada is a true spy story. There are ten plea bargainers (all from the Mafia) who have given testimony to the Mafia’s involvement with important public officials. The witnesses reveal that even ministers held illegal relationships with Mafia clan members. The magistrates in Palermo have accused the ex-prime minister, Giulio Andreotti, of having done favours for the Mafia. The trial is going on at this moment in Palermo.
